AI
Entry-level sets for kids typically cost under £5. Mid-range artist sets range from £10 to £20. Premium professional pencils can exceed £30, offering superior pigment and longevity for serious creators.

Frequently Asked Questions

AI
Wax-based pencils are softer and easier to blend, ideal for beginners. Oil-based options like Polychromos are harder, hold a sharp point longer, and offer greater lightfastness for professional work.
For kids, durability and ease of use are key. Brands like Crayola, Staedtler Noris, and BIC Evolution offer sturdy barrels and vibrant colours that withstand heavy pressure without snapping frequently.
Premium pencils offer superior pigment concentration, better lightfastness, and smoother application. For casual use, budget sets suffice, but artists often find the investment in quality pays off in versatility.
