Frequently Asked Questions

AI
While a double boiler works, an electric wax melter offers precise temperature control and consistent heating, which is crucial for preventing wax scorching and ensuring a smooth finish, especially for beginners.
Pre-waxed wicks have a thin layer of wax coating the base, making them easier to center and secure in containers using glue dots or tabs. Unwaxed wicks require additional adhesive and are less convenient for quick DIY projects.
Soy wax is often recommended for beginners due to its easy melting point, excellent scent throw, and clean burn. It is forgiving to work with and widely available in the UK, making it ideal for home crafting.
